  • Higher annual limits for both email and text messages

    January 29, 2025

    We’ve increased the annual limits for emails and text messages. We’ve doubled the annual limit for emails, and quadrupled the annual limit for texts. GC Notify now allows each service to send up to:

    • 20 million emails per fiscal year (April 1 to March 31), and
    • 100,000 text messages per fiscal year (April 1 to March 31).

    These are hard limits. For questions about sending limits or to discuss volume needs, contact us

    We’ve also made it easier to keep track of how many messages you’ve sent. GC Notify now:

    • Emails you a quarterly usage report showing the number of messages sent to date for each of your services.
    • Shows how many messages were sent so far this fiscal year, on the dashboard for each service. The dashboard also shows the service’s daily usage.
    • Tracks annual usage year-over-year, with a monthly breakdown. You must be signed into GC Notify to access this annual usage report. You can also use this report to see the number of failed messages each month.
  • Template categories

    We’re making it easier to manage templates. GC Notify now:

    • Asks you to choose a category when creating a new template.
    • Allows you to change the category when editing a template.
    • Allows you to filter templates within a service by category.
    • Collects aggregated data about the most used template categories to optimize GC Notify for public servants and message recipients.

  • Reminders to comply with Terms of Use

    To enhance security, we’re updating how you read and accept our Terms of Use. GC Notify now:

    • Requires you read and accept the full Terms when creating an account.
    • Provides a bulleted summary of the Terms for review each time you sign in.

  • Accessibility improvements

    We’re making it easier to use assistive technology on GC Notify. Now you can:

    • Read an updated Accessibility Statement that lists unresolved accessibility issues in plain language.
    • Navigate with a top menu or a new sitemap.
    • Follow prompts to enter alternative text for custom logos in English and French.
    • Access an index of task-based guidance on using GC Notify.
    • Use form fields more easily with clearer error messages.
    • Benefit from many smaller accessibility improvements.

    • Allows you to select trustworthy Government of Canada branding in English or French.
    • Provides a pre-populated library of custom logos for your department or organization.
    • Allows you to preview your logo selection.
    • Provides an option to upload new custom logo.

    • Select the best demo date and language for your needs, and sign up with confirmation.
    • Share the Register for a demo page with your colleagues across the Government of Canada. 
  • System status of GC Notify

    Now you can check the status of GC Notify’s system and components online. The System Status page now:

    • Allows you, at a glance, to check GC Notify’s API, website, email sending and text message sending. You’ll immediately know if each component is up, down or slow.
    • Provides notices and updates about incidents and service interruptions.
  • Sending limits for the day
